The Blacksticks Blue reminds me of our dinner last week at the Clog and Billycock in the Ribble Valley. It's a gastro-pub with a great reputation, recommended by brother Matthew. We went with brother David and Heather. For starters we shared a fish platter, that was comprised of locally sourced items including: smoked trout and salmon, pickled mussels and some other deliciously fishy items. I followed that with roast pigeon on a bed of parched peas, bacon and lentils; absolutely delicious. We finished this off by sharing a cheeseboard. This was made up of 10 different Lancashire cheeses: Lancs crumbly and tasty, two different blue cheeses, a curd cheese, a goat's milk cheese a Lancs bomb and 3 others. One of the best cheeseboards I've ever had. As well as a full range of flavours everything was local and unfamiliar.
